The Wave – SAIT Radio

Concept:

This project involved assisting a current SAIT student in creating some posters (along with a short video clip) to help promote their new radio station brand. The name that was chosen was ‘The Wave’ and had retro/vaporwave elements when discussed with the client.

Process:

The process in creating these posters involved discussing the new brand with the client, and solidifying two different directions to go with each poster. The palate would be nostalgic, and soft on the eyes.

For the first poster I wanted to play off the name and create a retro-beach scene. At first I used flat horizontal text, but felt adding the effects to arch and twist the words added further to the correct atmosphere of the piece.

In the second poster I wanted to aim for something more related to radio, and will build that connection upon seeing it. For this an old-fashioned radio seemed like a good fit, and using a similar set of colours lets both posters feel in the same category.
