Concept:

As a personal project I wanted to experiment with creating digital artwork of animals using creative cloud. The end results would be printed on different sized canvases as gifts.

Process:

The process for creating this artwork included using reference photos of the subject animal(s). Using the different effects in illustrator, I would refine and create shapes of colour that add texture/realism to the artwork. To create a more contemporary/surreal appeal – I used backgrounds that felt separated from the subject, but still amplified the colour scheme and overall visual. This was especially true for the two pieces that fit together (the cat and chocolate lab).

Final Product:

The final product(s) ended up printing onto canvas nicer than expected, and I am pleased with the results. Some of the artwork pieces can be seen in the gallery below – and you can see the differences as I learned what processes/effects worked best.
